I guess the Germans REALLY believe in the seven year itch. My almost-MIL told me, after I'd dated her son for over a year and we'd started talking marriage, that "any man who does not cheat on his wife after 7 years is boring." In other words, "my son is going to cheat on you and you should be happy about that."
I had no idea how to respond. All I can say now is...dodged that bullet.
(Oh, that would be the mother of the German man I dated. During a conversation in a pub in Munich. I'm not sure I've ever felt so cornered. Sigh.)
